Job Description

Rewind Therapeutics is looking for a motivated and talented in vivo technician to join a dedicated research team focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutics to treat neurological diseases. The successful candidate will be responsible for animal handling and treatment requiring some form of surgical skills. The person should be proficient in techniques involving tissue processing and sectioning, histological immunostaining and qPCR applications. Experience with relevant in vivo remyelination rodent models (LPC, Cuprizone, EAE), in-life behavioural tests and in-life electrophysiology/evoked potential recordings is a plus. S/He will be in charge of the practical realization of the experiments and is expected to rigorously document experiments and report data and analyse results under general supervision. Our new colleague will also be asked to implement new techniques, perform experimental troubleshooting and propose technical solutions. The position is largely based in Hasselt (Belgium) with ca 20% of time spent in Leuven (Belgium).

Minimum qualifications

The successful applicant should have at least a bachelor’s degree in biological, (bio)medical or life sciences (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of hands-on experience with in vivo rodent models (including repeated drug administration and fluid sampling from multiple routes) and histopathology. The candidate must minimally possess a FELASA B certificate. A good working knowledge of drug development and experience in an industrial environment is an advantage.


The applicant must be accurate, reliable and show initiative. S/He is expected to take responsibilities for well-defined laboratory tasks, and to appreciate the characteristics of rigorously designed and executed in vivo experimentation. Great organizational skills and priority setting as well as detailed documentation practices are required. A solution-oriented, pro-active and flexible mindset appropriate for an entrepreneurial environment in a biotech start up and a good knowledge of English are helpful.
